Good morning, guys.

Kwak, it's poor engineering at work again. More than likely it's both the relay and the compressor. Since you can hear the click, you've probably got a mechanical relay instead of a solid-state one. The contacts on the mechanical relay are probably somewhat corroded leading to poor contact/conductivity (unless the manufacturer undersized the relay) leading to compressor motor failure.

Maybe a $350 to $500 fix. Make sure they change the relay, too.

Good morning,

My wife is heading out of town on a long girl’s weekend to northern Virginia near the skyline trail.

It was just the relay. The fix was less than $200 and included the cost of a replacement for a failing light switch in the refrigerator. I’m 2 for 2 on dodging the cost of replacing kitchen appliances.

Good morning,

I get to play the bachelor - or at least the single parent - for the next couple of days. The benefit is that I can turn the AC off Arctic Mode during the overnights and stretch out on the king size bed - should long as the cat doesnít protest too much when I kick her in my sleep.
