Good morning, guys. My week off is feeling more like a day off. Oh well, there's a prime rib roast waiting to smoke tomorrow for early Father's day.

Way much better experience than the first 2 I bought as puppies. Nice to see the end product for the most part so you know what you are in for. That sounds like one big dog down the road TT3! That pup will be crapping Duraflames pretty soon. Good luck!
I know what you're getting at Mark. We definitely did NOT get him from a store. We went to the farm where he was born, met his mom and dad and the retired folks that bred him. Of the five other dogs we've had our personal luck has been with puppies. Anyway, I don't think Benny will get as big as Zorro, our 10 year old standard poodle, rot and other mix. ;)

Good morning!

Good luck with the pup, but I’m of the mind that mitts are less prone to health problems down the road. In order for an animal to be considered pedigree there’s also the downside of recessive genes being passed down through inbreeding.

For instance Golden retrievers are sweet dogs but the two my inlaws have had died of spleen and liver issues. I doubt feeding them ice cream helped but if they’d lived longer than the 9 years they lasted they would have then suffered from hip displacia.

Being a cat person, we went to a breeder for our Burmese who cost a pretty penny but we had to pick and choose because the breed is prone to eye problems and deafness later in life. We got lucky since she’s lasted 18 years but they say you should have a pair so that they can entertain each other and bond, else they’ll go senile. I’m pretty sure she’s on the decline.

The best dog we ever had was part Rottweiler part something else; she wasn’t as big as a purebred and she had a white patch on her chest that suggested she had some “hound” in her. She was sweet but “uppity” and had a taste for taking little dogs and shaking them til they were no more, which is why we had to get rid of her. My mom didn’t understand that a Rottweiler (even a mix) requires a heavier chain.

He's a mix kwak, not "pure". Two of our favorite dogs have been rott mixes. We've had an eclectic bunch. ;)

Cats... all my dogs have known the command "get the kitty" >:-)
