Default Does anyone do Minecraft?

What's the deal with this game? It looks like Legos but apparently it has a big following. Is it an MMO too? A friend's kid in church talked my ear off about it last Sunday and I'm genuinely curious about it. I've been looking for things for my kids to get into. Joey likes playing games and making things and Justin likes to explore so I was wondering if they might get into it and maybe even begin to socialize with online.

It's on the 360, and download the demo I find it boring but I never liked Legos either

I just watched some gameplay of it. It looks dreadful. I know people can make MC levels to mirror other games. I know they have Gears of War ones. Still it does not interest me in the slightest.

Yeah, but do your kids like it? On first impression I thought it looked terrible but after watching a video of some gameplay it's actually quite complex. You have to manage resources, build things, fend off intruders, etc. so it reminds me a lot of the first Civilization game.

Kingdom rush is fun for iPad. My son likes plants vs zombies on the 360. It's fun. They don't play minecraft and I wouldn't want them too.

C'mon, man. It's okay for them to be a little eccentric. Did I ever tell you the time when my wife painted my younger son's toenails? Now THAT I had a problem with. If he and I can get into something that curbs the current tendency of back talking and potty mouth I'm all for it.

I think it's a fine game for kids. They are constantly building houses, hide-aways, etc.. My oldest was running a server for all his friends. My 8 year old just started playing on is ipad and enjoys making his own home. In my opinion, much better game for a kid than Gears or Black Ops.

I'm sure that I don't have to say it but ignore Hock, get the demo and try it out. People do crazy stuff with it
