Found that odd smell near the fridge/pantry. The fridge had been leaking for the past 4 weeks. The line to the water filter had a hole in it. I just bypassed the filter straight to the water/ice maker valve. The water supply to the fridge goes through an RO system under the house anyway.

I also fixed the dishwasher. The recirculation pump was screaming like a banshee. The new pump worked so well, that it exposed another problem with lower washer arm. A crack in it was spraying water under the door seal causing the door to leak. It all runs quiet and leak free now.

I would have hired a pro.

Waited for the plumber to fix the 2 toilets. On 1, the flapper wouldn't close, on on the other, it dripped by all the time.
Told the boss what was wrong... First fix was new flappers, see if that solves problem.

But she insisted on hiring a pro.

So the guy puts in new flappers!!!

Cost a hundred fifty.

I could have done it for $20.

Our kitchen faucet rusted out and the inside of the cabinet is a mess. I detected a drip off the “multi spin” compression valves and picked up a couple of 1/4 turn replacements from HD. For the life of me I couldn’t get my the old compression fit valves off though so I end up just taping them up for now. My thumb feels better but I’m pretty sure it’s just the ibuprofen. We went crazy with the credit cards so I’m putting things off for those reasons.

Our old house had compression fit valves on all of the supply lines. Pain in the @$$. I cut them all off and soldered threaded fittings onto the copper supply lines. After that, all that I needed was a couple wrenches and some pipe dope.

Joey has been bitching about having to go downstairs to use the toilet. My wife - who told me she’d help with doing the flooring says “when are *you* going to get around to it?” Smh

Here’s my excuse: I’ve been focusing on the subfloor and backer board. I don’t want to have tiles crack because the floor isn’t level or stable through the change of seasons. Besides:

1 the toilet tank leaks and Joey is a slob in the bathroom
2 I don’t have a means of cutting the tiles
3 we racked up an insane credit card balance so I’m tightening the belt and not buying a new toilet or time saw right now.
4 I only have one good hand right now. I could use at least three more as was initially agreed upon.

Sounds like you should have hired a pro.

I talked the wifey out of applying for a job in the USVI that she is well qualified for.
1. Hurricane Dorian just came through there as a Cat1 (didn't hear about that on the news?)
2. It's for the DA's office. Putting them criminals behind bars.
Judges wind up dead. Witness wind up gunned down, etc.
3. Every 15 yrs or so the place gets hammered by a hurricane.
4. Since hurricane Maria, the island has imploded. Residents have turned to crime, more than ever. Steel from well off. You are a target, if successful. More than in the states. The police are a joke.
5. There's no neurologist, or specialist for the matter. Maybe in Miami?
Truthfully, at first, I was excited that she saw the ad hit her email. Common sense came a little later.
It was for St. Thomas.

I'll suffer here in the snow. At least we got away from stinking Joisey.

What I should’ve done was to apply for a job at Home Depot and set it up myself using my employee discount. I don’t trust contractors as far as so can throw them unless I have some clout. A bad experience with the clowns who did my roof burned me off the whole “pass the buck” thing.

Just take it one step at a time, Kwak. Break the project down into small operations. Youtube the heck out of prepping a subfloor for tile. Maybe one of your neighbors or craig's list has a tile saw. Everyone seems to buy one for a project and never uses it again. I gave my cheap one away, when I moved.

Luck, man. Wish I could help.
