Saw the Mr. Met thing. My 5 year old loves Mr. Met because, "He's got a big baseball for a head!" I'm sure he's no longer doing it and I lost touch with him when we graduated, but I went to college with the guy who once donned the Bernie Brewer suit. Was better at the old stadium when he'd slide into a mug of beer.

Glad the Crew was able to manage a split after losing the first two. All of the sudden Chase Anderson is pitching like Greg Maddux. Series against the Dodgers this weekend. I'm going on Sunday.

Sooner or later the national media has to admit that the Cubs aren't what they were last year. Going into the season it was, "The NL Central is the Cubs and everybody else." Then it was, "Once all the ceremonies are over they'll be able to focus and get back on track. The Cubs will still run a way with the central." Then the best on was a couple of weeks ago when they were playing the Brewers and the Friday game was played in the rain and 40 degree weather. "The Cubs have played X of how many games in weather below 50 degrees this year. Once the weather heats up I think you see the Cubs do likewise." Doesn't the opposing team play in the same conditions? And today, "The Cubs just have too much talent to be down all year. They're still my pick to win the Central and make a return trip to the World Series."

I'm not saying they won't end up winning the division. But at some point, you are what your record says you are.
"Baseball is a dull game only for those with dull minds."

The Mets nightmarish season continues. They hit a record 4 home runs off Kershaw in 1 game in LA and still lose.

Baseball season is a marathon. The real indicator of who will win in a weak division will come after the all star break and the trade deadline. The Pirates are scrapping to stay out of last place thanks in large part to Andrew McCutchen who has bounced back from his slump in dramatic fashion. Still, the Bucs are sellers and ownership is about dumping salaries so he'll be gone come August. They do it every year and it makes me sick.
