We had snow the other night but the temperatures have been hanging in the mid 30s so it's turning to slush. It's actually raining pretty hard right now and there are thunderstorms being forecast. Weird, weird weather.

Six inches of snow on Sunday, another 9-13 inches falling right now. School cancelled for.....I forget.....but the kids have missed a lot of school. Think this is 4 full day cancellations and 3 two hour delays in the last two weeks.

Not for you, irie! ;0)

We had our warmth 2 days ago but it came along with a ton of rain. All the snow that turned to white slush melted away yesterday but it poured all day and got SCARY windy last night. Now it's snowing again. The only constant has been that there's been no sun.

Wifey has to go down the driveway. Olympic ski jump. Totally frozen. 90 degree Right hander at the end. Waited for the sun to burn off some ice, but it's not enough. Would need a truck load of salt to thaw it down, only to watch it freeze back up.
Should be fun to watch.
I've done it. Keep it straight, a little power, no sliding on the way down, power slide at the bottom.

Salt won't cut it on a gravel surface. As soon as it starts working it seeps into the ground underneath. You need something to lay on top for the tires to grip on, like cinders or ash from a wood stove. That's what we always did where I grew up on the far side of Blakeslee from you.

Back in the day we also used to have "snow tires" and I recall many people used to put chains on their tires as well. I don't know if that's an option for you if you have a "nice" car. Again, back in the day all the cars being driven around in the winter took a pretty bad beating from the salt - especially underneath in the wheel wells where there'd always be a hunk of ice stuck there like a salt lick until spring. I've had the frame on two cars rust down to nothing.
