Question Where kids sit in a car??

OK..Im in NY state....I love in an area wherre there are ALOT of pickups...mine included. I know that if a kid is inder a certain age/weight they have to sit in the back seat. Well alot of pickups have no back seat and the kids are straped into ght front seat with airbag turned off. My truck dose have a back seat and I know that it is safer there than in the front incase of an accident.

Dose anyone know what the law is???

I know in NJ they must sit in the back as long as they are in a child's seat, I like yourself drive a pickup, my son has always sat in the front being there is no back seat, however when we use the SUV or my wifes care he is in the back seat. I'm not sure about the side jump seats you see used as back seats in some pickups, my guess is the child would be safer in the front. Of course when there is a question about this kind of stuff I've always found it best to just ask a cop, after all they are the one who would be writing you a ticket and believe me they are more than willing to help with such things.

Also look at your truck manual. It'll tell you the safest place to put the kid.

There's an exception for vehicles without forward facing back seats in most states that have that law. Have to make sure air bags (if any) are off though.
