So, I joined a gym yesterday. The doc says my blood pressure is too high, and my church clothes are having a hard time coping with my excesses. I'm hoping that this will also help drag me out of the depression/slump of last year. I'll start today, after the kids are in school, with maybe the elliptical and rowing machine, then a meeting with a trainer.
Starting weight: 319 BP: 158/106 Pulse: 83 Blood Sugar: 91 HA1c: 5.4 Triglycerides: 149 Total Chol.: 218 HDL: 47 LDL: 141 VLDL: 30 Taken on 12/8/2015.

At least your cholesterol isn't terrible. Good luck to you, keep us updated! We're both competing in challenges this year to lose some weight.

Average. 5'11".
I'm doing it also for HSA money through my wife's insurance. One of the little $$ incentives is to lose 2 BMI points a year or be below a target BMI.

My back injury has caused me to put on at least 10 pounds, I'm afraid to weigh myself, might be more like 20lbs.
I'm hoping to get back to more regular exercise, even walked the treadmill tonight, probably not enough to burn off the 2 beers I drank with dinner. ![]() |

WTF! I heard about this 5-2 diet yesterday. Turns out it has been very popular these days. Basically you pick any 2 days in a week and only consume only 600 calories (for a man) and on the other days you can eat what ever you want. The flexibility is what I like about it. You are not dieting 24/7 which never appealed to me. Today is my first fasting day. To be honest, recently I have been eating only 2 meals a day Mon. - Fri. You can consume all the non calorie foods and drinks you want on Fasting days. Hello Diet Coke!! From what I have read thus far most people on the diet don't go crazy on non fasting days with their eating. I would love to lose 15 lbs or so. I have been working out regularly for a while and feel pretty strong in that regard.

I've read about the fasting diet, too. Let us know if it works for you. I'm down 7 so far.

Did my first "fast day" yesterday Not horrible at all. Did not wake up starving either. Kind of hard to a Fast Day on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I will get two in next week for sure. I am finding a lot of prepared meals around 200 calories or less. I won't be broiling chicken or eating blanched almonds anytime soon.
