Good morning,

He plays trumpet. The school year doesn’t start until the 25th but band camp unofficially started this week (freshmen only) and kicks off next week at 8am with a performance at a local amusement part next Friday.

That will be a good primer for Joe getting up early; IIRC the bus comes at 6:30.

I’ll likely drive him in though. Many school districts have elected to continue the mask mandate. Ours has not. I expect there will be issues later on down the line - but hey, we’re all vaxxed. So even if we catch a breakthrough case the effects should be minimal. From what I hear the teachers are not pleased though. If they saved then this school year will be another debacle of grading on the curve.

Good morning.

I did it: I got up at 6:30am and got the kid to band camp by 8. Too bad when school starts he'll have to be there at 7 and it will still be dark. Ugh. I'm not ready for summer to be over and I'm feeling cheated.

Good morning. I'm just ready for the heat to back down. The stress of the last several weeks combined with the heat has been a bear.

Good morning.

I was surprised to hear rain hitting the roof this morning. That means that I can't add that additional layer of stain to the deck that I was going to do. Damn.

Good morning, guys.

So, I'm walking the dog at 5am (watching my parents' lab for a couple weeks), and it's 75 degrees and 85 percent humidity. I almost couldn't stand to drink my hot coffee.

Good morning.

We've had a lot of rain and some thunderstorms move through. It's put a bit of a damper on Joe's band camp.

Good morning, I think. I woke-up with a headache. Probably allergies from mowing the grass. Argh!

Good morning,

I’m sick of having to pick a lock to get my teenager out of bed much less out the door. For the second day in a row we’ve arrived at band camp late and everyone else is already on the field. Things are going to have to change and I’m the one who’s going to have to do the leg work. A big part of that WILL be enabling parental controls on his electronics. We eased up on him and got a new router so we didn’t set up the controls that the old router had - even though it’s the same brand.

PS: the in-laws are sharing their travel itinerary so the departure is nigh. Surprisingly I have mixed feelings but mostly have this feeling of relief.

Good morning,

Our power is out. Strong thunderstorms in the area snapped several trees and a telephone pole in half and knocked out power to just our neighborhood. The power company hasn’t dispatched a crew yet and the website says it’ll take until 10pm. Ironically, my wife’s office building is also on emergency power so she was told to work from home.

There’s more to the story but I’ll cut it off at the knees here as I am currently burning data and on the road enjoying the AC, charging my phone and avoiding the drama at home.

What would you expect on Friday the 13th?

Good morning. After countless email and text reminders from my dentist's office about my cleaning I booked months ago they called this morning to cancel and reschedule me a month from now.
