I would first go through the entire house and make sure you did not trip a GFCI outlet. It could be anywhere in the house.

Adding an outlet? Is there a way to put everything back the way it was before? Be sure to re-tighten any other wire nuts you might have disturbed. Keep us posted.

So you actually went room by room and tested and reset any GFCI outlets that you found. They could be outside your home as well. Check EVERY outlet you can find to see if it is a GFCI. I found one in my last house that was behind a couch in the middle of the house that was connected to the outside circuit and would not let me turn on my Christmas lights until I found it. I almost converted over it.

Likely a wire popped off one of the initial outlets in the circuit. Good luck. Pull all of them and check.

got one of those testers and upon plugging in it says i have a hot ground reverse, which i find out is mis leading and usually is an open neutral. i checked all the lines for an open bbut do seem to find any which makes be believe i lost a neutral in wall which will totally suck.

Were the outlets working before you started any work? If so, unless you really messed with pulling wires or were putting long new nails in the wall, I wouldn't think it'd be something in the wall. If you know which direction from the breaker the circuit runs, you could disconnect the wires continuing past the first outlet, see if it works then. Then go down the line doing the same thing, might help isolate where the problem is.

On the plus side, you're learning a lot!

True dat Riggsy!

Bollux, This is hard to help you with not being there and all to se exactly what you did. Like Riggs asked, did everything work prior? Also, could this possibly be a switch controlled outlet? Why wwere you working in it in the first place?
